Dione Blackwell (Meier)

222’s Fastpitch is very fortunate to have Dione Blackwell join our Team of incredible Instructors!

Dione’s softball career started here in Saskatoon. She went on to attend Junior College at Galveston College, in Texas. In 2002 at Galveston College, Dione helped her team win a conference title and was named NJCAA first team All-American.

She went on to attend NCAA D1 Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA. While at Nicholls State, Dione was named the 2004 Pitcher of the Year for the Southland Conference.

After she graduated University Dione ventured to Australia to continue her softball
career. She played 2 seasons and assisted in coaching young players for the State of Western Australia under the current Australian Nation team coach Kere Johanson.

Dione also played one season in Macerata, Italy for Fabi Macerata where her team captured the European Championship.

Dione made her way on to the Canadian National team and attended the Olympics in Beijing, China in 2008. After Beijing, Dione began pursuing her career in policing.

Dione has helped coach athletes since 2003. She has instructed various pitching clinics and was the assistant coach on the U16 Softball Saskatchewan High Performance Development Team. Her coaching objective is to help pitchers improve their skills physically and mentally, and to help those athletes to reach their full potential.
